The Project
The new Ship-loader for Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal was built in Brisbane and was required to be shipped to the terminal for final construction and commissioning. A specialised vessel was required for this transportation which cost more than $100k per day. Significant functionality was required to be operational in order to position the loader correctly for transportation. The system was not available prior to transportation for testing and had major interlocked systems missing.
Results
- No delays in both loading and unloading of ship-loader on vessel (previously ship-loader 2 had experienced 3 – 4 days delay in this process).
- During the 12 week construction and commissioning period, only a single 30 minute delay was attributable to the control system.
